Company Tour

When we began Berkeley Mills in 1988, we had disparate backgrounds and experiences in woodworking, but we shared a common goal: to make furniture of such enduring design and quality that it transforms one's surroundings by adding sophistication, serenity, beauty and comfort to the environment.

Unlike other furniture makers, our craftsmen work neither individually nor on an assembly line, but as a team, each contributing his or her particular expertise.

Nearly every step involves hand work or hand finishing. Even with the finest tools and technology, there is no substitute for the human skill that imbues each piece with unique personality.

We start with the very best wood - export grade logs of a quality unobtainable by most furniture makers.

American cherry, Honduras mahogany, and eastern white maple are the woods we work with most, often with figured cherry, sapele pomele.. and more.

At Berkeley Mills, we use modern, precision machines to attain results equal or better than those achieved by master furniture makers over the centuries.
